“Blessed are those who believe without seeing me”   John 20:29 (NLT)

Jesus: “Everything is possible for one who believes”  Mark 9:23 (NIV)

FAITH IS SEEING THINGS FROM GOD’S POINT OF VIEW

“My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all of God’s people.”  Ephesians 1:18 (CEV)

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FEAR?

(Numbers 13-14 – Spying out the Promised Land)

 1. WE EXAGGERATE OUR DIFFICULTIES

We explored the land and found it to be rich and fertile; and here is some of its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and their cities are very large and well fortified. Even worse, we saw the descendants of the giants there.”  Numbers 13:27-28 (GN)

“. . . the other spies said. “They would crush us!” So the majority report of the spies was negative” Numbers 13:31-32a (LB)

2. WE UNDERVALUE OUR OWN ABILITIES

“We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same    to them.”  Numbers 13:33 (NIV)

3. WE GET DISCOURAGED

“Then all the people began weeping aloud, and they carried on all night!” Numbers 14:1 (LB)

4. WE GET DISCONTENT ABOUT OUR LIVES AND WE COMPLAIN

They complained against Moses and Aaron, and said, “It would have been better to die in Egypt or even here in the wilderness!” Numbers 14:2 (GN)

“In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing” Philippians 2:14 (LB)

“Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling”  1 Peter 4:9 (NIV)

5. WE EVENTUALLY GIVE UP AND WE BLAME OTHERS

“Why is the Lord taking us into that land? We will be killed in battle, and our wives and children will be captured. Wouldn’t it be better to go back to Egypt?” Numbers 14:3 (GN)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

“All things are possible with God.”   Mark 10:27 (NIV)
