Prayer times are scripture-fed and Spirit-led, designed to spark a heart of personal renewal and restoration. Live prayer times are: Tuesday through Friday 5am to 6am (EST). Saturdays: 6am to 7pm (EST)

Here at LSChurch, we believe in the power of prayer. Prayer is the genius and mainspring of life. We pray as we live; we live as we pray. Life will never be finer than the quality of a person’s prayer life.

God’s Word tells us: “Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession.” (Psalm 2:8). Awesome things occur when God’s people come together in prayer. The Bible says that “if two [or more] of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19) (Emphasis added)

The Bible tells us: “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT)

As God’s children we are not alone in this world, even though some may be alone physically. God loves us and is always there, but He also commands us to lift up one another and comfort one another. What better way than prayer? As believers we are strong individually, but we are stronger as a group. God’s Word assures us: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

SCRIPTURES REGARDING MORNING PRAYERS

Mark 1:35 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.”

Psalm 92:1-2 “It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night”

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NASB) “The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Psalm 5:3 “In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice;in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”

Psalm 55:17 “Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.”

Psalm 59:16 “But I will sing of your strength,in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”

Psalm 88:13 “But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.”

Daily Prayer: What Jesus Said and Did

Jesus taught us the importance of daily prayer. He said, “Always pray and never give up” (Luke 18:1). He also said to converse with God day and night (Luke 18:7). When He taught His disciples to pray, He told them to ask God for their daily needs (Luke 11:3).

Not only did Jesus tell us to pray, He set an example of daily prayer by praying during all kinds of circumstances. Here was God in human form walking our planet, breathing our air, and yet feeling the need to be in constant communion with His Father.

He prayed at His baptism (Luke 3:21).

From the Gospels we learn that He prayed as He faced His passion and on the cross. Jesus prayed while in agony, He prayed all the more earnestly (Luke 22:44). We know that while He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me” (Matthew 26:39). Then, as He hung on the cross, His first statement was, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34). Later He prayed, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46).

He prayed during sad times, like at the tomb of His friend Lazarus. Before He raised Lazarus from the dead, He spoke first to His Father, saying, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me” (John 11:41–42). Then He shouted, “Lazarus, come forth!” And that is exactly what Lazarus did.

He prayed all night before He chose His disciples. (Luke 6:12).

When Jesus fed the five thousand, we read that He first looked up toward heaven and asked God’s blessing on the five loaves and two fish that were brought to Him (see Matthew 14:19).

The Bible also tells us that children were brought to Jesus so He could lay His hands on them and pray for them (see Matthew 19:13).

Jesus made it a priority to pray. “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16), or He sent the crowds away and “went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray” (Matthew 14:23). We also read that Jesus rose “very early in the morning” and “went off to a solitary place where He prayed” (Mark 1:35).

We find in the Gospels that He was constantly praying. Here is how the writer of Hebrews captured Jesus prayer life while here on earth in Hebrews 5:7 : “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission”.

So if Jesus felt the necessity to pray constantly, then how much more should we? Pray all the time. Pray about all things. He has given us that example to follow. And we, too, need to be people of prayer.

Reasons Why People Don’t Pray

1. I Don’t Feel the Need to Pray

Perhaps you are self-sufficient, multi-talented and have become an excellent manager of your time. God fits into your well organized schedule on Sundays as you go to church and also at the moment that any of life’s crises may come upon you. However all these great talents and worldly management skills will ultimately have limited ability without a strong relationship with the Lord Jesus.

2. I Don’t Have the Time To Pray

Your time is God given, as well as every breath that you take. It is in God’s hands. Time should be tithed just as your money. If you take time to talk to your Father, He will literally multiply your time back to you. He will set your daily priorities and give you back more time than you can possibly imagine. It’s a time honored miracle! IF YOU ARE TOO BUSY TO PRAY – YOU ARE TOO BUSY!

3. I Don’t Want To Get Up Early

Many Christians reject the idea of early morning prayer. Comments are frequent that “it’s too hard.” We all agree it’s very convenient to the flesh, but the Spirit soars to new heights. It doesn’t come easy, it takes commitment and dedication. The rewards are far worth the effort!

4. I Don’t Know How To Pray

That’s okay. Just hang out with those who do. You’ll soon learn that it’s nothing more than carrying on a conversation with your closest friend.

Plan to pray with me by calling the PrayerBlast Hour of Power Lifeline and experience “God’s incomparably great power for us who believe”. (Ephesians 1:19). Calls are Tuesday through Friday each weekday from 5 am to 6 am. Invite a friend! Reach for something more!
