It is an honor for a man or woman with a humble spirit to realize that God has chosen to use him or her in Christian ministry. It is even a greater honor for a man or woman to be elected by the Church to the office of Deacon.
Following are excepts from the DREAM TEAM MANUAL. Please read the manual and other documents on this page and if interested, please submit an application for consideration.

PURPOSE STATEMENT OF THE DREAM TEAM

Our purpose is to function as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ serving in and through the church as partners with and under the leadership of the Pastor Prah in enabling the church to fulfill its Kingdom agenda for the glory of God.
Our Goal is to be the most responsible, effective and respected Ministry at Life and Salvation Church and to take ownership in supporting our church’s mission and vision. “We are the voice and the hand that encourages people to change their lives with hope, comfort and peace.”
We are called to serve in excellence of Spirit. We are servants of Christ, working together to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the Life and Salvation church.
We, the Deacons of Life and Salvation Church have answered the call of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:
“Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26, 28, NLT

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE DREAM TEAM

As Deacons, we strive to serve Almighty God through Life and Salvation Church in REVERENCE, ORDER and UNITY in the spirit of EXCELLENCE.
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ . . . as the Church submits to Christ” Ephesians 5:21, 24 NIV
“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. 40 Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way” 1 Corinthians 14:33, 40, NIV
“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12
“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. Being mindful, that the devil uses dissension, confusion and disunity to disrupt God’s work, the Deacons will stand in complete unity with the Pastor, and fellow Deacon members.

MORAL QUALIFICATIONS OF A DREAM TEAM MEMBER

“Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as Deacons.11 In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.12 A Deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (NIV)

LEADERSHIP HONOR CODE

As an essential part of the LSC Leadership family, you have a responsibility to develop and exhibit mature Christian behavior. This should be the basic premise of your desire to participate in a Servant-Leader position here at Life and Salvation Church.
While serving the Body of Christ as a leader here at LSC, you pledge to present a good appearance at all times. In both behavior and attire, you should strive to demonstrate Biblical standards in all situations.
As Christians, the way we present ourselves to others is of vital importance to the way others perceive Christ. Our conduct should never be an embarrassment to Christ, but should exemplify the best qualities of a mature believer and Servant-Leader.
Exemplifying the highest moral commitment, LSC leaders are to maintain a disciplined life of bible reading, prayer and fasting.
As a member of the leadership, I will:
A. Strongly support LSC in the achievement of its mission, programs, culture and values under the leadership of Pastor Prah
B. Demonstrate loyal support of Pastor Prah
C. Faithfully attend Sunday Worship Services, Bible Study and Monthly Revival Services (at least 80% of the time)
D. Regularly attend monthly Leadership and/or ministry meetings, training sessions and annual retreats
E. Care for the church members and others in the community
F. Proactively reach out to invite people to visit our church, encouraging visitors to become members and connecting all to serve in LSCHURCH ministries.
G. Encourage and strengthen visitors, new believers and the spiritually weak.
H. Demonstrate a personal exemplary Godly conduct and behavior consistent with a deacon as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-12 to ensure a spiritually healthy church body.
I. Visit the sick and needy of the church and pray for them
J. Participate as a team leader in at least one of Ministry area
K. Available to participate actively in Deacon assignments
L. Be a faithful steward giving at least a tithe (10%) of my financial income to the work of the Lord here at Life and Salvation Church and commit my time, talents, spiritual gifts, skills, and abilities to the Lord through the church.
M. Encourage and participate in ministries of the church
N. Share the gospel to believers and unbelievers
O. Complete LSC Growth Tracks 1 through 4
P. Be a faithful custodian of church assets, ensuring that such remain in Church premises and preserve the sanctity of LSC sanctuary.

You must also refrain from such things as:
1. Profanity
2. Smoking or chewing tobacco
3. Gambling
4. Indulging in alcoholic beverages
5. Dishonest gain
6. Illegal drugs
7. Pornography
8. Sexual immorality, and
9. Any behavior which might cause Christ to grieve and others to stumble.

LifeGroups resumes week of March 8, 2015 …

At LSC we want to grow smaller during the week as we grow larger on the weekends. We do this through our small group ministry called LifeGroups. Our desire is that everyone who calls LSC home will be connected to a LifeGroup for fellowship, connection, ministry, and growth. LifeGroups are a place where we can share our lives with others. The good times, the tough times, and all the times in between.

The Bible says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). LifeGroups are all about fellowship, making new friends, encouragement, prayer and study of God’s Word as it relates to the issues and challenges of everyday life. In a LifeGroup you can take a break from the busy demands of everyday life and invest in what is really important: your relationship with God and your relationship with the people around you. In a growing church like Life and Salvation, it is impossible to know everyone but you need to know someone.

MIXED LIFEGROUP

Mixed LifeGroups consist of 3-9 members that meet for an hour and a half each week throughout the DC, MD, Northern VA community in homes of people just like you. We offer LifeGroups in a semester style. The semesters begin with a welcome fellowship event and run for 6 to 8 weeks with a month break before starting another semester. Groups meet on the day and time that works best for them. They eat together, have time for conversation and hanging out, then have a discussion on that week’s sermon and how to apply it to their lives. Group members share prayer requests and support each other through prayer during the meetings and throughout the week. We provide Sermon Discussion Guides to aid in Bible discussions.

Beginning in Fall 2013, we will introduce Ladies LifeGroups, Mens LifeGroups, Couples LifeGroups and Youth LifeGroups in addition to the traditional Mixed LifeGroups. These sessions will run once a week. As we grow, we will be adding new groups to even better accommodate different lifestages as well as the busy schedules we all deal with.

LADIES LIFEGROUP

At LSC, we minister to women through our Ladies LifeGroups. Ladies LifeGroups exist to minister to the special needs of women through practical bible discussions, prayer, ministry activities, and fun events that instruct women on ways to apply God’s Word to everyday life. Ladies LifeGroup provides a loving environment for women to process life’s experiences and struggles while encouraging a journey of life transformation for women to be fully devoted disciples of Christ.

If you desire to deepen your faith and commitment to Jesus and experience meaningful friendships and acceptance among other sisters who share common experiences, this is the place for you to find the support you need. MENS LIFEGROUP

Men become men in the company of men. It’s tempting to believe that we’re strong enough to handle life on our own, but the truth is that we as men are most vulnerable when we’re isolated from other men. When God’s man stumbles it is almost always because he’s alone and disconnected from other believers who can help him through. We all need brothers we can trust, a group of men who will help us face our fears, our trials, and our secrets. We need a place of security, support, spiritual growth, and accountability. That, quite simply, is the purpose of the Mens LifeGroup at LSC.

At LSC, our goal is to equip men to become mature disciples who reflect the image of Jesus in their daily lives. Our objective is to provide an environment where men foster relationships with other men, become spiritually grounded in God’s word and are inspired to lead their families, serve the church, and impact their friends and community. Practical bible discussions, fellowship, prayer, conferences and fun activities are the main staple of the Mens LifeGroup. COUPLES LIFEGROUP

The Couples LifeGroup is for any married couple, regardless of age or how long you’ve been married. We provide opportunities for marriage related Bible studies, along with the chance to meet other couples in the church. Plus, we have a lot of fun! You don’t have to be a Bible scholar or have the ‘perfect’ marriage to be in this life group. Couples LifeGroup meets once a month.The men and ladies are encouraged to join a traditional lifegroup for the other 3 weeks in the month when LifeGroups are in session. YOUTH LIFEGROUP

Youth LifeGroup is for students 13 to 18 years old. Life Group is the perfect place for you to form great friendships with other students your age, build positive relationships and learn more about God and grow closer to Him. The leaders are there to encourage, teach, guide, and help you strengthen your walk with Christ. Your group will be encouraged to establish accountability with each other and get involved in ministry.

PASTOR’S BIBLE CLASS

Pastor’s Bible Class provides a fun and interactive way of studying the bible and growing in your walk with Lord. By turning to the timless, undeafeated, all-powerful, Word of God, we have the practical tools to walk in victory as a follower of Christ. Eight Reasons to Join a LifeGroup here at Life and Salvation Church

1. You will begin to really feel like part of God’s family here at Life and Salvation Church

Most people who have been a part of a group say the greatest benefit is the close relationships and friendships that develop. You’ll discover that your needs and problems are not unique ~ we’re all in the same boat. It helps to know that others are facing the same difficulties, or have lived through them and learned spiritual principles in the process.

Over fifty times in the New Testament the phrase “one another” is used to describe our relationship to other believers. We are instructed to “love one another”, “encourage one another”, “pray for one another”, “accept one another”, “bear one another’s burdens”, and “build up one another”. The only way you can obey these commands is being plugged into a Small LifeGroup team along few Christians here at Life and Salvation Church. We really do need each other. God never meant for you to go it alone in the Christian life. Through small groups, you’ll find the support you need to help you live the life God meant for you to live.

2. You will understand the Bible better in a LifeGroup.

In a small group setting, you can ask questions, participate in a discussion of the text, and hear others share insights and illustrations of the truth you are trying to grasp. The Bible must be applied to your own personal situations and adding small LifeGrroup bible discussions to sermon formats is a powerful combination.

3. Prayer will become more meaningful to you.

There are many promises in the Bible related to group prayer. In praying together with a few others, we are drawn together and we find answers to the needs in our lives. You will be able to hear and experience God working personally in the lives of others as He answers prayers and blesses individuals and that will encourage your faith and build your walk in the Lord
4. You will be able to handle stress and pressure better.

Participating in LifeGroups provide excellent opportunities for believers to come together and become better acquainted with one another. In times of crisis, change and stress, you’ll have a sense of stability and security knowing there are people who really care for you and are committed to standing with you during life transitions

5. You will have a natural way to share Christ with friends, relatives, and work associates.

It may be that some of your friends who don’t know the Lord wouldn’t be caught dead in a church. They have a preconceived idea and just the thought makes them defensive. But those same people may be open to an invitation to a casual Bible discussion in a home or office setting. In a small group, your unbelieving friend can ask questions and express honest doubts without feeling “put on the spot”. When your friend sees the love and warmth and honesty of your group, it will make him more receptive to the Good News.

6. You will develop leadership skills you never knew you had!

The Bible teaches that every believer is given certain talents or “gifts” to benefit others in the family of God. As you share and participate in a LifeGroup, you’ll discover your confidence and self-esteem rising. This will help you at work, at church, and in every other relationship.

7. You will deepen your understanding of worship.

Many believers mistakenly believe that worship can only happen on Sunday morning in a church setting with a sermon, a choir, and an offering plate! Worship happens anytime we focus on God. While the bible encourages us to gather together in corporate worship on the Lord’s Day, additionally, we enhance our walk in the Lord and continue in the faith when we also gather in a smaller group in praying or singing or bible study and serving together.

8. You will be a New Testament Christian!

The book of Acts is very clear about how God intends for His people to grow and have their needs met in the church. We will never be able to hire enough professional pastors to serve God and His people and carry on the essential work of the ministry. God never intended for it to be that way!

Consider these verses:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Every day they continued to meet together… they broke bread in their homes and ate together… and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42, 44, 46-47

“Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the Good News that Jesus is the Messiah.” Acts 5:42

“Greet also the church that meets at their house.” Romans 16:5

“Aquilla and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord and so does the church that meets at their house.”
I Corinthians 16: 19

“Give my greetings…to Nympha and the church in her house.” Colossians 4: 15
